Everyone knows someone who has faced the devastating disease of cancer. However, it is even more heartbreaking when the disease attacks a child. Even if the family has good insurance, the impact the disease and treatment have on a family is unbelievable. Pat Zimmerman, a Stitches 'N Tyme Thimbleberries Club member forever, has a daughter, Danielle and son-in-law, Davy with four children: Malayna (4), Brooklyn (3), and twins Hayden and Peyton born pre-term November 6, 2009. On August 14, Hayden was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Becuase of his age and type of childhood cancer, his prognosis is not as optimistic as an older child faced with the same disease. After being hospitalized for one month at Froedtert in Milwaukee, Hayden is now home and in remission. When his blood count improves, he will start the next phase of treatments as an inpatient at Children's in Milwaukee over the next two years. Please keep him in your prayers.
Four kids under the age of 4. Wow. Even with two sets of loving grandparents, a deep faith in God, surrounded by supportive family and friends, the battle Davy and Danni face everyday . . . there are not words. Gas, food, lodging, childcare, the list of incidentals not covered by insurance is insurmountable. Stitches 'N Tyme will periodically offer items for raffle. Ashley first made this bag as a carry-on for the airlines. I have since made one for each of my daughter-in-laws which they use as a purse.
